Steelhead
The Steelhead is a sea run rainbow trout usually returning to freshwater to
spawn after 2 to 3 years at sea. The Skeena river has the worlds largest run
of Steelhead as well as the world record. These are the most sought after
fish by fly anglers and are known for their hard fighting and acrobatic
displays.
Season: Spring run - mid March to end May
Summer run - late July to November

Chinook
Salmon
Also known as King Salmon or Spring Salmon this is the largest of the salmon
species.
Chinook are very popular with anglers. The size and power of these huge
salmon can be intimidating even for a seasoned fisher. Many an angler has
been left with broken tackle from fighting with these powerful fish. The
Skeena river has produced two world record Chinooks weighing 92 and 99lb.
Season: Spring run - late April to early June
Summer run - Mid June to early August

Coho
Salmon
These are one of more aggressive of the salmon species. Their willingness to
strike and large numbers make Coho an excellent target for anglers. Either
with gear or the fly these fish are great fighters and are beautiful fish.
Many of the smaller clear rivers in the fall make it possible to sight fish
for these amazing salmon.
Season: August to Nov.
Weight: 5 to 35lb |

Sockeye
Pound for pound this is one tough fish. Averaging 4 to7lb these fish will
run, jump, turn and truly test your angling skills. Sockeye migrate up the
Skeena in large numbers so anglers will get lots of chances to hook these
exciting fish.

Chum
Salmon
Comparable to the King salmon, Chum salmon are popular with fly anglers as
they can be very aggressive. These large salmon return to some of the
coastal rivers in large numbers . Their unique colouring makes them very
distinct. Anglers have caught Chum in excess of 30lb.
Season: mid July to mid August
Weight: 10 to 35lb |

Pink
Salmon
These are the most numerous of the salmon species. Averaging 4 to 7lb Pinks
can be great fun on the fly. Males can be distinguished by a large humped
back which develops soon after entering the river.
Season: late July to early September
Weight: 4 to 12lb |

Char
and Trout
Char, Cutthroat and Bull Trout inhabit the northern rivers, adding variety
to an already diverse fishery;
