Plan Your Trip
Kalum River Lodge is situated in a secluded wilderness setting north of Terrace BC.
Maybe it was watching that Steelhead grab your dry-fly for the first time, or that feeling when you strip-set into a big silver Coho that chased down your zonker. Perhaps it was the Grizzly bear that shared his favourite pool with you, or momma Moose and calf that crossed upstream and washed up only feet away from where you stood. Maybe it was that fishing guide that told you “there’s always one behind that rock”…and by golly he was right! Whichever take-home story it may have been, there’s always more where that came from. The friends and staff of Kalum River Lodge thank you for another unforgettable season. See you all next time!
Summer has come and gone, along with happy guests and strong runs of Chinook, Chum, Pink’s, and Sockeye. We’ve had excellent fishing for all 5 species of Salmon and Steelhead throughout the summer. As the fall weather starts to set in we will be focusing our efforts towards the smaller tributaries of the Skeena and Nass for Steelhead and Coho.
We had a great spring steelhead season. Although spring seemed to be a little late this year, we ended with decent numbers of steelhead being caught on the Kitimat river and the main stem Skeena. In the last couple weeks of April we had some beautiful weather with lots of nice fishing being caught.
I hope you are well during this festive season and are looking forward to some exciting fishing adventures in 2022. We can hardly wait to make your fishing experience something that will bring memories for a lifetime.
2021 was a banner year for us. Although the steelhead numbers were down, we exceeded all expectation with high numbers of Chinook on the Kitimat and great returns of Coho and Pinks in the Skeena.
Looking forward to serving you on the river in 2022!

It has been a long time but we are happy to announce that the lodge is open again.
It was with great pleasure that we were able to share time on the river with Claudia and her parents.
Like many of us it has been a long wait to get together with friends or family.
Everyone had a great time Spey casting and hooking fish. Claudia topped the day with a beautiful Chinook.
It was not the season anyone had imagined and we really missed all our guests who had planned to join us.
Everyone is rescheduled for next year and we anticipate an action-packed season.
The Kalum River Lodge Team were out and about enjoying the fresh air and some great fishing over the last few months.
Here are just a few snaps of the stunning scenery from our adventures around the area… and of course a few of the fish landed.
Another great day out on the river. There are lots of fresh Chinook around to test your skills!
As the CV-19 restrictions in BC start to ease we are looking forward to getting back on the water with guests. We anticipate that we will be able to take BC residents on guided day trips starting this July.
We have been out fishing on a few of the local lakes. It is a lot of fun watching the trout chasing a dry fly. With so many lakes to choose from there is always somewhere new to try.
Currently the rivers are high with the snow-melt. We will be out on the rivers again in early June when the fresh Chinook start coming in.
The spring weather has been amazing here for the last few weeks. With sunny blue sky days our guides have been out on the rivers, where better to practice self-distancing?
The fishing has been good but we are missing our guests who are usually fishing with us now. We are looking forward towards the summer season and getting our guests back out on the rivers that they all love. We will be waiting and so will the fish.

The Kalum River is a beautiful river settled amongst stunning scenery. It is home to some of the largest Steelhead and Salmon around. It also has good runs of Coho Salmon and resident populations of Dolly Varden and trout. Our guests enjoy some great fishing days on this spectacular river in the spring, summer and fall.
